If your new EdgeStar IBS450SS Ice Maker does not power on, the solution is likely a simple fix to the wiring harness that attaches to the power button. While very uncommon, it has been reported that due to excessive vibration during the shipment of your appliance that the wire connectors that attach to the Power Switch can shake loose causing the ice maker to not power on. Fortunately, the solution is simple and should take just a few minutes to correct.
WARNING: BEFORE PROCEEDING, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT APPLIANCE IS UNPLUGGED FROM POWER SOURCE
Step 1: Remove lower front kick plate / grill
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the 2 screws (circled in red) that secure the bottom of the kickplate/grill to the ice maker cabinet.
Once the screws are removed, you will be able to swing the kickplate upwards and removed as needed from the 2 connector tabs at the top of top of the grill.
Step 2: Check wire connectors
With the kickplate swung upwards or completely removed to reveal the backside of the power switch (circled in red below), check the 3 wire connectors that attach to the power switch. Re-secure any loose or disconnected wires.
Step 3: Re-attach kickplate
Reattach the kickplate/grill and secure in place using 2 Phillips head screws . Plug the unit back into a power source and test to ensure the problem has been resolved.
