Do I need to seal the gap created when I install my built in kegerator under a countertop?

YES.  You must seal the gap that is created between the top of the kegerator cabinet and the bottom of the countertop. When not properly sealed, this gap will allow cool air to escape and warm air to enter into the kegerator cabinet. Much like leaving the door to the kegerator open, this situation can result in kegerator performance issues including temperature inconsistency, foam problems and in certain cases may lead to excessive frost build up resulting in damage to your new kegerator.

To seal the gap you will need to run a short connecting tube from the cabinet to the countertop. Common materials for sealing this gap include PVC pipe, insulated pipe tubing or rubber lining material. It is critical to create a seal between the kegerator cabinet opening and the bottom surface of the countertop. If you use PVC or foam tubing, your solution may extend from the interior of the kegerator cabinet up through the countertop and into the base of the faucet tower.
