Your icemaker needs periodic cleaning to ensure proper performance and operating efficiency. Specific instructions to clean your model of ice maker are found within the user manual that was included with your unit.
You may follow the below basic steps to clean your portable ice maker:
Basic Surface Cleaning:
- Take out the ice basket.
- Clean the interior with a diluted cleaning solution, warm water and a soft cloth. (DO NOT use any caustic or abrasive solutions or clean your ice maker with flammable fluids.)
- The outside of the ice maker should be cleaned regularly with a mild detergent and warm water.
- Dry the interior and exterior with a soft cloth
Internal Cleaning:
- Take out the ice basket.
- Add a mild cleaning solution mixture to the water reservoir. Use a 10:1 ratio of water to either white vinegar or lemon juice. **
- Run the ice maker to make a couple of batches of ice (at least 2). Discard the ice.
- Drain the cleaning solution from the water reservoir.
- Remove the water line from above the evaporator and clean and rinse it out.
- Add fresh water to the water reservoir up to the water level mark.
- Run the ice maker to make a few batches of ice. Discard the ice.
- Drain the water.
- Add fresh water to the water reservoir to make ice, or dry the interior and exterior with a clean soft cloth to store the machine.
- The ice scoop should be washed regularly. Wash it just like any other utensil.
