My portable air conditioner is displaying an error code. What does it mean?

Your portable air conditioner has sensors to monitor for various conditions that may prevent the unit from operating in a normal manner.  Please refer to your user manual for error codes and operating instructions for your specific model.  Common portable air conditioner error codes can be found below:

P1 or H8 - Water reservoir is full.

Unplug unit.  Drain tank according to instructions found in user manual.  Plug unit back in and power on.

E1 or F1 - Ambient room temperature error.

E2 or F2 - Evaporator sensor error.

E4 - Display panel communication error.

F4 - Outdoor temperature sensor error.

F0 - Refrigerant sensor error.

E5 - Overcurrent protection error.

For all above errors, power unit off for 30 minutes and then restart.

H3 - Compressor overload protection error.

E8 - Overload malfunction error.

H3 and E8 errors can occur when units are operating in high humidity / high temperature environments.  Please check ambient temperature and ensure that temperature is below 90°F.  Also, be sure to check and verify that filters, exhaust ports and air inlets are clean and free from obstruction.

As noted above, different models may display different codes.  Your specific model may or may not display one of the above codes.  Please refer to the user manual for your specific model number. User manuals are available for download here
