Why is Proof of Purchase required for warranty service?

In order to properly manage the warranty and servicing of our products, it is important that we verify ownership of a product.  Items that are bought and subsequently resold do not maintain the same warranty entitlement that is granted to the original purchaser.  The EdgeStar warranty applies to the original purchaser only, and only covers defects in workmanship experienced during operation of the product under normal service, maintenance and usage conditions. The EdgeStar warranty applies to the purchase and use of this product within the United States of America.

As such, in order to validate ownership, it is required that a valid proof of purchase be provided when requested.  It is highly recommended that your register your product after receipt.
